American Eagle

 What is more patriotic than an American Eagle.  This eagle is a pattern from Tennessee Ridge Primitives.  He was supposed to just be a shelf sitter, but I liked him better on the star.  The star has a metal framing with grapevines entwined in it.  I thought it looked too plain so I intertwined some homespun   with the grapevines. The eagle is painted and stained and sanded.  Then I handstitched a small banner with "1776" on it and stiffened and grungied it.  There is also some red sweet annie and pip berries tucked behind the eagle.  On the points of the star are some rusted bells.  It still needed something so I added the  "USA" Flag to complete the look.  Great for the coming Fourth of July or anytime of the year. The star measures 18" across.
